One of my favorite fruits is the Nectarine, and the sweetest Nectarines I ever tasted were plucked right off a tree in our backyard. I've always adored this tree, with its beautiful craggy limbs and gorgeous flowers.
I wanted to give a gift to a dear friend who lives north of San Francisco, so I gave him the best think I could think of: a Nectarine tree! Auspiciously, the species variety was called "Katie." Before giving it to him, I had a talk with that tree. I infused it with prayers and wishes for him and requested a future of wish-fulfilling fruit. Now he says that each year, out of all his fruit trees, this one produces the most fruit.
If you're attracted to the Nectarine Blossom, you may be experiencing low-level annoyance or feeling under attack or criticized. Or perhaps the energy in your environment is inflammatory, aggressive or uncomfortable.
You may find others’ words are harsh or jarring or that some people around don’t have your best interest at heart, causing you to pull back and clam up. You may be feeling vulnerable at the heart level, wanting to crawl under the covers or make a safe escape.
Lately you may only want to interact with people whose demeanor is gentle, sweet and soft. You deeply appreciate friendliness, camaraderie and a sense that loved ones are "on your side."
Nectarine Blossom relaxes tension caused by being on edge and feeling like we can't trust the people around us. It helps us transition from feeling a lack of safety (emotional, physical or otherwise) to feeling that we are among friends. It dissolves the desire to want to crawl into a protective shell and escape and magnifies our desire to reach out to people and engage in some kind of service.
Nectarine Blossom awakens a desire to do nice things for others and encourages sweet words, all of which transforms our environment. It enhances gentleness and softens our character, bringing out our good intentions. It fosters an atmosphere of camaraderie and friendliness.
Nectarine (Prunus persica var. nectarina) belongs to the Rose family, along with cherry, apricot, plum and almond. Nectarine Blossoms are just as gorgeous as Cherry Blossoms, yet their blossoms are larger with more saturated pink, and they are hardier than their delicate sisters.
In order to tell the story of the Nectarine, we first must tell the story of the Peach tree, because Nectarines are a relatively young species. Wild Peaches, however, originated back to 2.6 million years ago in China (archaeologists have found peace tree fossils that old!). Peach trees began being cultivated by humans around 2000 BCE in China, and they are known as a symbol for long life.
As one of my all-time favorite fruits, the Nectarine is a miracle plant, having grown spontaneously as a bud sport (an offshoot with different genetics) from the Peach tree. The only difference is that Peaches have a dominate gene for fuzzy skin, while in Nectarines the fuzzy skin gene is recessive. Both the fruits of Nectarines (and Peaches) can be white or yellow, with either freestones or clingstones, referring to the pit in the center and how easy it is to dislodge it from the fruit.
"This elixir has helped me to be more gentle with myself. It's been perfect for the time between the old and new. It reminds me to be soft and see the world in a quieter way." —Stephanie
"This is one of my all-time favorites, even though I've taken it only once or twice. It amplified gentleness and acceptance, both towards others as well as from others. Lots of warm and fuzzy feelings!" —Celeste
"Three weeks of this elixir and the results are apparent—quite literally: the tight muscles in my cheeks and around my mouth have relaxed. Not only do I have a softer look, but I feel less on edge. When disrupted, I no longer snap but take life in stride. An amazing product!" —Ingrid Pruss
"I've been faithfully taking my elixir for two weeks now. And I love it. I don't know if I'm more upbeat, if the world is treating me better, or if I'm just noticing all the love and acceptance that is out there, but it seems like everything goes my way, and when it doesn't I have mounds of patience to deal with it. I've been sharing it with my kids and while there was quite a backlash at first, they are starting to get along better and work through their problems rather than just erupting in anger. Can't wait to try another one." —Emily Leigh
